Easter relaxation

I am spending easter in our summerhouse. I forgot a lot of my materials at home, so I had to make some things of what I could find. Hope you are enjoying the days off too!

More button inspiration

I promised to make a follow up to the botton/bowl post the other day. So here are some pictures of buttons that I find inspiring, and a couple of the results from my playing with them.



The button-thing goes back to the sixties when my grandparents had a shop, where they made dresses. I loved to visit them in the shop, to look at all the fabrics and play with the buttons that were kept in a large box. I made rows and pattterns on the floor with them. When my grandmother died in the early 70´s, I inherited another box with buttons and I still have a lot of them.



So look out for fleemarkets,old ladies sewing baskets and old clothes, and the world will never be the same again..

Easter eggs

I admit, I don´t celebrate easter because of its religious theme, but because I like to celebrate spring coming. Easter is also the time to celebrate fertility,so we focus on baby-animals, flowers, birds mating and eggs. I made a couple of easter eggs for the Orangerie. I know the strawberries on the table are out of season, I just get so tempted when I see them in the shops right now ;-)

Button or bowl?

Some people might think that this is just a button that someone left on a table. Some of them might even think, that its a pretty button too. They don´t know much about minis do they?



I bought a couple of oranges on the marked. Now it is clear for all to see, that it is really an old and very exquisite fruitbowl, isn´t it...

Weekend in miniature

I has certainly been a weekend dedicated to minis!

First Annie and I decided to meet to make minis and spend the weekend together at her lovely house in the country side.
When I arrived, she said Congratulations to me, and I looked quite surprised at her, then she told me, that she had just discovered, that I had won Laras Giveaway!



What a great surprise, I can´t believe my luck. The gift looks so great and fits perfectly into the world of my Orangerie. Thank you SO much, Lara!



Annie and I made flowers while we were drinking champagne (so that Annie could get some chair-material), and being wise about a lot of things ;-




Today my husband came to drive me home, and we passed a shop, that sells dollshouses...and look what I found, the house that I think could fit a lot of my dreams and expectations of a nice house. It has side windows and doors which give a great light in the rooms...






I just had to buy it.
So certainly a weekend in miniature ;-0) Hope you had a nice weekend too!

Good ingredients..

Do you know one of these days,when your kitchen is filled with good ingredients: Fruit, vegetables, herbs, fish and maybe shell fish? The smell fills the air as you cut and slice. Be present and enjoy the small things in life...



It is one of these days today. I began with making myself a greek salad, which is one of my favorites, I eat it every day when I spend hollidays in Greece and I enjoy how the homegrown vegetables smells and tastes of so much more than most vegetables you buy in Denmark. Of cause I poured myself a large glass of icecold Retzina, but it doesn´t show on the pictures ;-)



Then I felt like preserving some vegetables, like their looks in large jars and to add lemon, chilis and other stuff.



I also have some lobsters and some oysters..well they have to be prepared too, so thats all from me for now ;-)

Doors for Brocante

I have been working a little bit more on Brocante. This time I have been concentrated on doing the facade. Still haven´t finished yet, but here I show you the doors.

Tiffany lamps again..

Well, I have been working with the ornaments from Bindel´s, and last night I created this little Tiffany lamp and hung it in Brocante, together with the other I made some weeks ago. In fact I made more, I just didn´t feel like stopping, and somehow got a little oriental inspired too with the others, I´ll show you that some other time..maybe that will be a new theme for me..
One of the walls in Brocante also got the chosen wallpaper and in fact I made the facade too, but still lots more to do ;-)

A small collection

I love collections of items with a common theme. Here I show you a collection of pitchers and glass with a yellow-brown tone. You may have seen the dark brown one several times, and also the smal glasses from Reuter, the rest are new purchases that I´ve done in the past few days. I added an old floor pillow I made years ago..

Here are more of my new purchases.I´ll need some oysters and lobsters too...and a house with a large kitchen ;-)

Yet, some more details..

..I recieved a packet in the mail today with a lot of small items that I ordered on E-bay..I´ll show you some more in the next few days.
There was some more stuff for the Orangerie, as I am beginning to plan the next part of the house, the more pottery-and-with-earth-like-part. I got the two small boxes with seeds in the mail and added the two pots, where I have "planted" what was originally red onions, and put a little green shoots in them, so you can see, that things ARE growing right now ;-)

I can´t believe that I am reaching 100 followers!

I started this blog in december 2009, less than 3 months ago, and it has been so much fun. I have enjoyed to enter the miniworld again, and I am so fond of your sweet and supporting comments and watching your blogs too. There has only been a few days that I have been away from miniatureblogs and never a time, where I have been bored.

So to celebrate, I want to have a GIVEAWAY. But I´ve been wondering what can I possibly add to your beautiful miniscenes, it makes me humble. And your styles are so individual. So I decided to make a tableau for the winner with 3-5 small items by your overall guidelines but my choise. I will surprise the winner: Maybe a lamp? An earringholder/rack? Orangerie -finishing details

I am finishing the details on the first part of the Orangerie these days, so I´am showing you some pictures of the project. First some of the details..

The next part of the project is to make the other part of the Orangerie which will be the one with the bathtub, a lot of plants, a wickerchaiselongue and a potterytable..

Tiffany lamps

You may know, that I made some Tiffany lamps from prints on overhead paper (transparants) some time ago. And later I learned how to put lights on ;-)
Yesterday I followed a link to www.bindelsornaments.nl on Marits blog, and read their tutorials about lamps. (They have an english site too, and great kits too BTW). I was surprised to see, that you can use nail polish as a glass paint and that it can make a solid surface on filigran materials. I had to try it at once! My kinds of nail polish isn´t many during the winther time, so I only had a few to choose from, but from now on you will see me spot all the unusual colors when there is a sale, dark green, blue, yellow and purple ;-) And yes I am going to order more filigran materials, this is a lot of fun!
Unfortunately the photo doesn´t really show, how the light shines through the "glass", it´s a very good effect.

Floor, Walls and Ceiling in Brocante

I think I´ve finally decided the floor in Brocante after trying several. I´m going to add some finish to it too Now I´m wondering about the walls,I´m considering this wallpaper with lavenders, but my printer just broke down so I can´t test the colors. I´m going too add some rafters in the ceiling too and a finishing moulding between the walls and the ceiling...

The days are getting longer and tomorrow we have the 1. of march, officially the first day of spring. Outside there is still snow covering the ground, but inside the Orangerie you can feel the spring, when the sun is shining.
