Brocante - fascinated by doors..











I´ve always been fascinated by doors with different kinds of layers of paint and cracklings and have a lot of pictures of them mostly taken in different islands in Greece. I wanted a door for Brocante also..and here is a green one along with some of the stuff for the shop, I´m collecting and making right now.
I found the "stuffed" stork in a cristmas decoration, I think it is quite old. I´ve patinated the gold frames, to get rid of the cheap shiny too-golden look, and make them look older. There is a very good 25 year old italian balsamico in the bottles, Brocante is also selling good and special delicacies mostly from the contries in the Mediterranean area...

    Love it! you can also make some old white window shutters...just an idea...it would look great along with the other stuff...

    Love the Brocante shop already... I´ll be a faithful custumer :o) The patina on the door is perfectly done... and the bird...what a find!

    Thanks for your sweet comments..and yes, I already bought shutters and some windows too, I received it in the mail today, so I haven´t painted it yet, but I´m looking forward to!

    What a beatiful door you have made and I love the bird what a great idea. I have just signed myself in as a follower and is looking so much forward to see more of your sense for details. Quick question how did you patinated the gold frames ?

    Thanks Reiko and welcome! The frames are patinated with green and brown traditional craft paint from Pebeo (nr. 48 and 61) but could also be ordinary wall paint toned with water colors for aquarell or the like, or any paint you may like with a mat look. I just add a very small amout with a worn out brush and wipe quickly, so that the paint doesen´t get to even. Maybe I wipe a little off again with a cloth or wipe it together..that depends ;-)
