Rusty antique theme

For the next couple of months, I will be living in a summerhouse by the beach, while our house is being repaired. Unfortunately I can´t bring my miniature houses, but I will take a lot of materials with me though. This means that I will only be posting "outside" pictures on my blog and will concentrate on working with the tiniest things not involving so many tools.
I started this period by making a rusty theme, some wreaths, a door math and an ornament for flower pots or gardens..
(And no, I haven´t forgotten my gift for Mercedes either, or my swap with Ewa.. ;-)

  1. I love your new miniatures. Lucky you, you're going to be by the sea that makes me dream. I'm sure even if you haven't got all your tools you will make interesting miniatures.

  6. Espero que la reparación de su casa no le cause mas problemas de los necesarios, y que lo pase muy bien cerca del mar.
los temas de oxidados me llaman la atención y me gustan, están muy bien conseguidos.

The Old Maid: I would love to swap with you too, let´s arrange something. But the swap I mentioned is with spanish Eva, who asked for something chineese, which I am working on and getting finish very soon. It´s very funny, but not rusty at all ;-)
Mercedes: Thanks for your patience. I am already working on it, so it won´t take long. I´ll E-mail you before I´ll post it.

  13. All this 'rusting-up' is a great idea :) I especially love the orb and crown in the flowerpot - really made me smile - a great way to start the day! (6 am here)

I hope you will have a wonderful time at your summerhouse, but the reason for being there is a pity, house repairs are always so expensive :(

  16. We are struggling to get the insurance compagny to pay their responsibility, that is not easy, I would say. We are not staying in our own summerhouse, since its getting colder here in DK, and the very cosy house/cabin is not made for staying all-year-round-all-times, and it´s further away too. So we had to rent another place.
Though nature makes it a wonderful place to stay, its ´still rough times, I would say..

  19. Oh, I was conjuring up images of you lounging in a lovely, breezy summer house, hearing the waves crashing through the night - a place I would like to be. But back to reality, not much good if it is cold. I love all your minis, love the wreath, it all looks fabulous!

  20. Es muy buena idea llevarte a la casa de la playa cositas pequeñas. Esto que nos has enseñado hoy es precioso. Seguro que tienes un secreto para hacer esas cosas oxidadas. ¿es difícil? Me encanta el resultado.

  21. Susanne, you are always so clever with combining the pieces and making them into real gems. I really love this particular collection. My favourite of yours . And your collection of tables are truly to die for. They have very unusual tops and this one is just fabulous.

  23. Hi Susanne, I love your rusty minis!
I wish you good luck during the period you can´t stay in your own home.

The fabric I used for my hat is indeed a sort of emroidery fabric (with 4 double threads in 1 cm) and it is a very stiff canvas. So I made it wet with hot water and moulded it on a cork.
Then you can let it dry in that shape.

Good luck with moving into your temporary house. Love, Lara

  24. Thanks Katie, Margaret, Clara, Sans, Pedetre!
Lara: Thanks too, and thanks also for the tip about the canvas and the how-to-do-it, it will be great for baskets too, I think. My eyes are set on different kinds of wicker-like materials right now ;-)
    Love, Susanne
