Fabrics printings

To night after work I had a little time to experiment with printing on fabrics. I have tried that before, the news are that these prints colours don´t smear or run out, though I use a bubble ink jet printer. A sneeze or a drop of water won´t ruin your work, and you can even wash the fabrics. That is revolutionary to me (but may be not to you ;-)
The secret is Bubble Jet Set 2000 for ink jet printers, which you can buy a lot of places, try to google it for your own country. This fluid preparates the fabrics and preserves the prints in a few easy steps. You don´t need to use the recommended special rinse in the last phase, I just used an ordinary hair shampoo.
One bottle of Bubble Jet Set 2000 goes for about 20-25 sheets of A4 papers, and I have to stop myself from printing spontaneously and try to become more selective :-)
Well, as you may guess, my next steps will be making pillows, and maybe there also will be fabrics for a lean chair made of the one with the birds and the flowers. It´s the same print, I´ve used as a wallpaper in the Orangerie for the panels...
By enlarging the pictures I now realize that there was something on my lence, sorry..

  1. Fab result Susanne!! The print looks a lot more detailed that the method I´ve used before. And the fact that´s it´s waterproved, is just a benefit. I have to try this bubble thing. Do you print on fabric, or on paper an then ironing on to the fabric?

  3. Susanne,

It looks FANTASTIC!!! I am totally in awe of this tecnique. I am dying to try it. I have heard of the bubble jet 2000. What I need is someone to walk me through how to do it on my computer. I am computer challenged in a big way!!! ;-)

  4. Dear Annie
First step is to prepare the fabrics with the liquid for 5 minutes and then let it dry.
Next to iron on american freezer paper and to cut to printer size.
Then print ordinary and leave for 30 minutes.
Then pull off paper and rinse in cold water with shampoo for at least 2 minutes. Let dry on towels. Maybe you need to ion on the back...but then TA_TA!
    Love, Susanne

  10. Susanne,

I find images all the time that I would like to print. I know how to copy and paste and how to save an image. How do you make them to the size you want them to be. I reduced one but when I went to print it on paper it was bigger than what it was on my screen. I told you I was clueless. LOL

  14. Thanks again.
Catherine, you can use a word file. You paste a picture and then you use the picture tools to give it the measures you want fx 3,00 x 3,00 cm.
    Love, Susanne

  17. Hi Susanne, I have used this stuff for a number of years now, with mixed results. It really is trying out what works best. I found that on some silks the ink will still bleed somewhat, and the rinsing tends to fade the colours a little. It is a great advantage to be able to get the fabric wet though.
Like you, I like to use my own prints on fabric, it's a lot of fun I think. -groet, Josje-
