Shoooes!

I managed to make a pair of shoes to day. It was my second attempt, and I know it can be better with practice. I also need some smaller fingers and some good tools. I´ve used the tutorial for stilettos, that Casey so kindly offered us (thank you so much, Casey!), but I chose to have another heel. The soles and front are made of snake skin. I´ll send a pair of shoes to the first one to guess, what the heel is made of ;-) (Still haven´t got my camera, so you can´t enlarge the picture)

  6. Casey, I must admit that when I saw your tutorial with the mesquite thorns, I wondered if rose thorns would work!

Susanne, I email you with my info. I'm so excited. Being new to minis, this is a big thrill!

  10. Susanne, I will say one thing. The mesquite thorns are better for stilettos and higher heels. I am going to try the rose thorns for lower ones though. I think that there are lots of possibilities. I did think that the ends of the bamboo skewers turned out well. If you don't have access to thornes, those work well too.

  12. Dear Casey, Thanks for your commet. I am afraid that the climate in DK doesn´t allow us to grow mestiquites, but a lot of other plants with thorns though, and another alternative is the end of a cocktail stick.
I thought that the pompadour shape of the rose thorn would be interesting in the shoe business, and found it very easy to glue on, because it already has at "foot". I just cut a little bit of the end to make it stand.
There are so many ways to reach what you want!

  17. Great job on the shoes!! I haven't had a chance to make the shoes in Casey's tutorial yet. I have lots of dried roses in a vase that hubby gave me. He'll think I'm cracked when he sees me clipping all the thorns off to make shoe heels!!! Oh my, the life of a miniaturist! Thanks for showing your work!
